THE SQUAD DOES AN INTRO: GROUP MEET UP - [modplot] [event] [free-for-all]

THE SQUAD DOES AN INTRO: GROUP MEET UP

OOC POST

The Green's binding spell finally works out its kinks and the entire group is teleported into the same area in the center of the city, near the statues of the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and Scarecrow.

Everyone in the group feels a tingling sensation as the magic sets in place and binds them. Anyone that tries to leave will now find themselves being teleported back if they wander too far. The group will have to try to stay together when it moves now.

They have a little bit of time to figure things out.

OOC INFO

Post in actionspam format. Plots and mod-run events in the game are meant to be in actionspam format to keep a brisk pace.

Free-for-all Post. This event will be in "free-for-all" format, meaning that threadhopping is encouraged and that threading should be treated in the same conversational way as network posts.

By now, the language magic should be fully in place. By now, everyone should have magically learned Sylvaen so that everyone can speak it fluently and understand each other.

[It's getting to be later in the evening, and as far as Dixon can tell, there isn't any obviously available food or water. People are starting to pair off or hang out in the periphery of their teleportation boundary on their own, no longer so interested in coordinating such a rowdy and tumultuous group. They'll undoubtedly congeal again when there's some reason to work together as a team.

Dixon wanders around. It's not that he's hungry or thirsty - though he does have a hint of a headache, which feels more like a hangover than a result of having hit his head fighting Phos - but he doesn't have anything to tend to his healing injuries. The painkillers he took for them this morning have also long worn off, and healing third-degree burns hurt like a motherfucker. What's worse, with no way to clean them he's thinking they might get infected.

So he strolls up to people hanging out getting their bearings, trying not to look like he's kind of desperate.

Anyone got anything for burns? Or I don't know, an aspirin or anything?

[Brainy stares at him and draws in a breath.]

[Despite the other man's hostility, he would've offered his services the first time they'd met if he'd thought he could even get in close, but given how hostile he'd been...]

[But now...]

[Brainy sighs.]

I have a medkit - provided you have no qualms with receiving medical care from a Ugandan.

You're actually Ugandan?

[Dixon was just throwing out the first foreign-sounding work back when he was being snarky at Brainy, but now it's an honest question, because he forgot the word Colu hours and hours ago.

Granted, of course the first person he finds with a med kit is this condescending fucker. Dixon very nearly considers roughing it, but he guesses if he's polite and doesn't do much to agitate maybe they can get through this without wanting to strangle each other.

It's a tall, tall order.

I just need something to keep it clean and take the edge off. Please.

It was sarcasm. Uganda is an Earth - never mind.

[While he starts off looking extremely put out, the expression fades as he gets to work. Working Brainy is a very different person than salty Brainy, and when he's concentrating, he can't really prevent the concern from coming through on his face.]

[And yes, there's concern even for someone like Dixon.]

Sit down on the ground.

[That way he can work more easily. Brainy kneels down and opens up his medkit, spreading out some of his supplies on a little mat. While some of them look a little alien, nothing about them looks particularly sinister. Even the tools look no more intimidating that one of those digital ear thermometers. Some of it is even familiar: alien bandages are still ultimately bandages.]

Just checking. [You know, because these kinds of things need checking.

He does as told, metaphorically placing himself wholly in Brainy's hands. It's not that Dixon's a trusting person at all, it's more just that he's been manhandled by doctors and his mother since getting the burns a few weeks ago and then another round again after getting his face beat to hell, and doesn't have any fight left in him around that particular issue. He just wants a little relief.

And, truth be told, little kindnesses like this are not going unnoticed by Dixon anymore. If anything, he's started looking for them, holding onto them, taking acts of generosity and gentleness like lifelines and nooses, saving in their ability to restore some faith in things, murderous in his ability to feel unworthy of them. He wasn't expecting to find it in Brainy but he takes it to heart that he does.

Are these alien technology that'll zap the skin back together or something? [He just had a conversation with Revan where she said she was from a world in the year 20,000 something, so God only knows what the guy who looks like an evident alien is packing.]

Unfortunately, an unknown force in this place seems to be having an adverse effect on some of the technology in my possession. Alongside my translation equipment, much of my medical tools have been affected.

[He break open two little capsules of...something and mixes them together in a little container. The liquids started off clear, but turn blue when mixed.]

That is to say that devices like my dermal re-generator are nonfunctional.

No 'zapping' for you. I'll have to resort to more primitive methods of wound care.

[He squirts the blue mixture over the burns, dabbing at the excess with a piece of gauze-like material so it doesn't drip all over Dixon's clothes. The liquid stings a little but no worse than clean water would, and afterward, the wounds feel cleaner and slightly soothed, like they've been properly washed out.]

Yeah, the chick from Toronto and I compared our gadgets and hers are all fucked too. Mine have battery power but my phone's out of service.

[He winces at the touch to the burns, but doesn't recoil back. He's had a while to get used to the temporary stings of cleaning these suckers out. He tilts his head so Brainy can get his neck and rolls up his sleeve on his right arm so Brainy can get the burns from hand to forearm.]

Damn. [Could have used the zapper.] I'm' guess everyone else here's on the same boat with the technology, or someone would have at least GPSed where we are.
