THE SQUAD DOES AN INTRO: GROUP MEET UP
OOC POST
The Green's binding spell finally works out its kinks and the entire group is teleported into the same area in the center of the city, near the statues of the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and Scarecrow.

Everyone in the group feels a tingling sensation as the magic sets in place and binds them. Anyone that tries to leave will now find themselves being teleported back if they wander too far. The group will have to try to stay together when it moves now.

They have a little bit of time to figure things out.

[ Anyone looking might catch a pair of handcuffs slipping off the wrists of Tim and the hulking teen next to him. Tim is giving Kon a smugly triumphant look - he doesn't need to say I told you so.

The handcuffs disappear under his t-shirt. ]

I think we're jumping the gun, but I'm not explaining how I have handcuffs.

[Toothless, spotting Kon and Tim, growls in their direction. He keeps his distance, but there is clearly something he doesn't like about Kon even if the only person he's capable of really articulating it to is Hiccup. The young Viking himself speaks up from his spot over by the dragon.]

Uh, hi. Superboy, right? I'm sorry about Toothless. I don't know if you've been bathing in eel guts, or something, but something about you smells wrong to him.

[ Tim hasn’t moved away far enough to miss the conversation – or the dragon, damn that’s unnerving. He gives the beast a wide berth and limits his butting in to verbally. ]

Wouldn’t smelling wrong to a dragon be a good thing? We don’t want to smell appetizing to, er, Toothless. Is that a misnomer?

Retractable teeth, and he doesn't eat people. I haven't run into many dragon species that do and they tend to primarily hunt other dragons.

[Privately, Hiccup wonders how many times he's going to have to explain that before this is all said and done.]

Look, I've only seen him act like this a few time, and there has always been a good reason for it.

[ When Toothless starts growling Bart quickly takes his hands off him, assuming at first that he was the reason for it. But the mention of Superboy pull's his attention toward the dragons real target of ire. Seeing Tim and Kon he give's them both an excited wave before his mind catches him up on the situation and he addresses Hiccup again. ]

Wait...Why's he acted this way before?

[Kon had been freaked out when it initially happen but now he looks especially anxious about it. And a little self-conscious.]

Maybe it's the clone thing? I could just have some kind of eau de test tube smell he can somehow pick up on.

Could there be enough subtle differences from a non-cloned person that an animal could smell it and think it's weird?

[He looks to Tim because Tim has a nerdbrain and also because Tim has experience with cloning, what with all those attempts to clone him after he died.]

[It's a reach, though. He knows it is. There's a crawling feeling under his skin that's he's getting more and more aware of as time goes on, and he can't help but wonder if the dragon's smelling something to do with that.]

I don't know what a clone is, but when he gets like this it's usually around things that he knows are dangerous. Usually things that are poisonous, or dragons that prey on other dragons.

[Toothless, for his part, stops growling once he realizes Kon isn't getting any closer. He's still glaring at him, and looks ready to jump in front of Hiccup and Bart should Kon try anything.]

Kon isn’t dangerous.

[ It’s direct, because Kon’s status as safe has been duked out previously, and Tim's idea of brokering that discussion is overruling everyone from the start. ]

I don’t think it’s anything to do with your being a clone. You’re half Kryptonian, and you – [ Tim indicates Hiccup. ] are human, I’m guessing. The dragon doesn’t react like that to Bart, so we know it’s not generic metahumans.

[ After a pause to ready himself to yank his hand back, Tim holds out a hand towards the dragon experimentally. ]

There's other nonhuman people here. [He gestures over at Brainy and Phos, two of the ones most obviously not human.] Has he reacted weird to them?

[ Tim's left eyebrow shoots up. ] Are you suggesting all non-humans smell the same?

[konman]

No, but he might just be twigging out over anyone that doesn't smell entirely human. It could just be an aliens-in-general thing.

[He gestures at the dragon.]

Maybe he's just a space racist.

[Toothless sniffs at Tim's hand. Unlike Bart, Tim doesn't get permission to touch him. Mostly because Toothless is a very unhappy dragon right now.]

Besides Dixon, you're the only person here he's reacted to like this. And Dixon was yelling and waving a shield around like a weapon. He's got more than enough reasons to not be a fan of that.

[Bart started trying to see if he can mellow Toothless out some, but not really knowing how, just tried what he would usually do with his dog. Just softy shooshing him and scratching him behind the ear flap until he stopped growling. ]

We fight weirdos and dangerous stuff all the time. Maybe you fought something that left a hinky smell on ya?

OOC note: Tim never called him Bart.

[ As an aside to Kon, Tim murmurs. ]

That would still fit. Kryptonians aren't common. [ The lack of welcome from the dragon is fine with Tim. Despite his love of fantasy, petting a dragon he's just met has all the markings of a Bad Idea.

Bart can get away with it because he's Bart, presumably. ]

Why does it matter if Toothless doesn't like him? Dixon wasn't pleasant, but he seemed normal to me.

[Between Hiccup and Bart's calming rubs and scratches, and Kon's continued inaction, Toothless calms down. He's still shooting Kon wary looks, and will start growling if Kon tries to come nearer to him, but he doesn't look like he's going to pounce at one wrong move.]

Considering it looks like we're going to be stuck together for a while, it'd probably be a good idea to figure out what's causing it, just in case it sets off anything else. Toothless won't attack Kon unless he attacks first, he knows better than that, but I can't say the same for whatever's out there.

[Nope. There's nothing wrong. Kon needs for there to be nothing wrong.]

You heard him. [He nods towards Tim.] There's nothing wrong with me. I'm just your perfectly average, ordinary half-alien clone.

[Kon glares at the dragon and crosses his arms.]

So this sounds like a you problem.

[Space racist.]

Hey, that's no fair! I was just about to ask that.

[Kon turns to look at Tim with an expression that's half-internal scream, half enraged muppet.]

You wanna field that one?

[ He's flushing, more with exasperation at the unfailing accuracy of Murphy's law than embarrassment, but Tim doesn't skip a beat and puts on a fake Irish accent of middling quality. ]

Ah, sure enough, ye caught me now. I'll be playing Officer Brophy in m' school's production of Arsenic and Old Lace next month.

A school play, huh? That sounds really interesting!

It's a shame you were both ripped away before having a chance to perform.

The two of you must've been looking forward to it.

[ Nipping that in the bud before she can realize their accents do not match. ]

I've been teleported so many times... [ He looks so sheepish, running a hand through his hair. ] I guess I got scared. I landed here, and he was standing over me. Look at him, he looms. I tried to handcuff him. I don't know what I was thinking.

[She looks over. It's true, he's huge.]

W-Well, that just means you were prepared.

[Or paranoid.]

And who knows, you might actually get to use those handcuffs later!

I'm not asking how or why, I'm just going to be amused that you have handcuffs but not shoes.

[ Tim looks indignant - which means he's telling her why anyway. ]

I wanted to understand how being physically connected to another person at the random instant of teleportation affected the results. We stayed together.

[ He shrugs. ]

I don't wear shoes in bed, for the record.

You don't wear shoes, but you do wear handcuffs?

[ Yeah, she's going to tease him about this until the heat death of the universe or until it stops being funny, whichever happens last. Even death won't stop her, that's what ouiji boards and ghosts are for. ]
