He's of two minds about it; on the one hand, fantasy is not a genre that ever interested him, and magic seems unpredictable, unreliable and full of weird consequences. On the other hand, one of those weird consequences is that he can get magically drunk now, and the explanation of "it's magic!" puts a quick stop to a lot of boring theorizing on how all the shenanigans here could be possible.
