Anita nods. "Yeah. I lived there with my grandmother, until I moved back in with my dad when she died." The difference between living in an old shack in the bayou and then a duplex in the suburbs would have been a shock if she hadn't already been spending time with her dad before that. "Maryland was different."

Anita isn't as actively on alert- she's still younger and hasn't been exposed to that much danger in areas that have been considered safe- but she still makes the effort to keep aware of her surroundings, with her baton in reach.
