He doesn't care if he wasn't invited into the conversation, he'll just go ahead and butt on in anyway.

"Back at the temple, you should be able to use the campfire to dry out any clothes that need to be dried. My clothes are synthetic and designed to be resistant to contamination but for everyone else, I'd recommend periodically washing your clothes and drying them by the fire anyway. So you're partway there."

He wrinkles his nose.

"Even though the only thing available to wash with is water, which is quite frankly disgusting."

He says it like there are other things you can wash with besides water.
