Overheard at Camp Melai; Does this mean Robbie's Klinger?

Who: Robbie and anyone (special starter for Dixon and Sirius)
What: OVERHEARD AT CAMP, Robbie accidentally figures out the healing thing. Someone tell him about it in the morning.
Where: Camp 1 - Melai Temple
When: Shortly after arrival. All conversations will pre-date that with Dixon and Sirius.
Warnings/Notes: "Overheard at camp" is basically my idea for posting several quick, one-off lines that can be taken out of context (or maybe in context) and seeing what people make of them. Possibly some talk of Dixon and Sirius' injuries.

[ 1: In the kitchen. ]

[ 2: In the main hall, as he dumps a collection of wood-ish things in a pile in the center of the room for an anticipated fire. ]

Yay, carbon monoxide!

[ 3: Anywhere. ]

Hey, V- guys? This old Enya statue won't not stop undressing me with her eyes. It's freaking me out.

[ For Dixon and later Remus. ]
[ When Robbie heads over to Dixon, he doesn't have a specific plan in mind. He's got what small bits of cloth he could find, not wanting to cut up blankets; anyway, he's unsure how to bandage a face without mummifying Dixon. He remembered to clean them by boiling and to boil separate water for cleaning the wound, which has him feeling rather pleased with himself. He's no doctor, and he wouldn't call any of this sanitary, but Robbie's doing what he can. ]

Hey, I figured you might want to... I don't know, get the day's crap off of that.

[ He looks pointedly at the burn and then resumes talking to Dixon's face as a whole. ]

Or whatever your doc told you to do. If it's one of those things where you flinch too much to do it yourself, I'm not skeeved out by it. I can help.

[ Infections are nasty business, and his pockets don't have any Tylenol. You get a high fever - you're dying. ]

[Sirius refused to straighten up again. He might not be able to take a nap but he deserved this much.]

This is nothing.

[He pointed at Robbie.] Especially after that. I should write him a thank you letter.

So. You're American? Is that where you were before this?

If you say so. I'm going to have to sign that card too. Didn't think to bring my prescription with me to go saving the world.

[He touches his fingertips to the healed burns, the waxy scars he knows are there from the touch and from the like ones on his hands and wrist. He'd been on a lot of painkillers over the last few weeks.]

Yeah. Missouri. You sound some kind of English. [But hey, who even knows anymore, for all he knows Sirius is from Mars. He puts a hand to Robbie's shoulder, like he's trying to make sure the guy knows somewhere in his subconscious that they haven't up and abandoned him.] They're getting us from all over but it seems like us Americans still got the majority.

It's one way to end your body's problems, that's for sure. [It's really hard to not laugh even more, at this point.]

Nice to meet you. I'm Anita.

[As she introduces herself, she stretches and stands up in one graceful movement, being careful of the swords on the ground as she steps over to him.]

Jimmy Dean is my downfall. The man put chocolate chip pancakes and sausages together, boom, on a stick.

[ No, really, he eats them. ]

Hey Anita. I'm Robbie.

[ He offers her his hand, pauses, and looks from it to her. ]

If I try to pound it out, how disappointed am I going to be?

It's in Tellius. I don't know Europe.

[ He's not expecting Tellius to ring a bell. It hasn't for anyone else, after all.

And while he doesn't quite look insulted about that second bit, he definitely seems a bit exasperated. ]

I steal to live. Lifting from anybody in this group would be pretty counter-productive.

[ At least a couple of them seem quite capable of disproportionate retribution, and he can't get away from them... ]

I know what you're talking about, but I've never seen one. Small island and not a lot of call for acting as an occupation. Especially since we were fighting constant dragon raids until about five years ago.

[Toothless gives Robbie a mildly apathetic look before moving back to his spot and laying down with a light thump. Lambs. Bleh.]

He prefers fish. Also, quit encouraging my dragon to be lazy. He doesn't have a lot to do right now as it is. We can't fly very far from the group, so I'm trying to keep him at least a little active with other things.

[It is helping. When Robbie says 'la ti da,' Kon laughs an almost mischievous laugh like he's a kid who's been caught with his hand in the superpowers cookie jar.]

See, at least you've got that going for you. On top of the half-alien thing I'm also a clone so "unique" has always taken a little work.

As in, I tried a little too hard at it. You should've seen me when I was a little younger. Fade haircut [He smooths back his hair like some kind of 50's greaser gang member] an earring, leather jackets, and an attitude to match.

Oh! Oh, and belts. Completely random belts on my costume. That didn't hold anything up.

So if you managed "unique" without that much work...

[He steeples his hands and bows slightly, as if bowing to a master.]

You're not missing anything. Trust me, most of them don't come to a clean ending, and they're a total snooze.

Uh... still preferable to dragon raids, though.

[ Robbie mimics the look on Toothless' face back at Toothless, because that is exactly his maturity level, and then turns back to Hiccup. ]

Bribe the dragon with fish, but make him work for it so there's no cranky Vikings. [ Thumbs up. ] I can do that. For you. No, seriously, I"m just trying to not get on the wrong side of the guy who's besties with the dragon or with the dragon.

[balladin]

Okay...

[ Robbie has to blink at that. He draws the shape of Europe in the air with his finger. ]

It's the one shaped like this. Oh, shoot. Technically it's connected to Asia so...

[ He tries again, clockwise from Portugal, and makes it all the way around to Cambodia or so before he loses it. ]

You know what? Fuhgeddaboutit. It's not important. I'm more into this whole stealing-to-live routine. Like, you're one of this group - none of us has any choice, so... maybe you shouldn't go around 'lifting' from anybody not in the group either? [ Because it's wrong. ] If somebody else gets suspected of thievery, it's just as bad as if you do.

[ Maybe the normal reaction to "clone" isn't a huge shit-eating grin, but Robbie's giving him one anyway and excitedly raising a hand like he's answering in class. ]

Ooh, ooh! I know this one, I've got two clones on my team! Being a clone doesn't mean you are that person, and I solemnly swear to not call you Spider-Man or Namorita. Cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye. Your choice between a pinkie swear and spit shake, man.

[ Granted, not calling Kon Namorita is 1000% due to Kon not looking a darned thing like her, but it's the thought that counts. ]

Man, I had a bad hair and piercings phase. [ He gets a dreamy, fond look that says he would go back in a New York minute. ] I had the whole metal mullet, dangling cross earring, thrift shop wardrobe... ah, youth.

[ He tried really, really hard to be cool. ]

When I realized I was in danger of setting off metal detectors, I took out all the piercings. They were a pain to keep clean anyway - so, yeah. I worked at it on a personal level. Powers wise? [ He shrugs. ] I got lucky. The only other person caught in the lab accident that made me was my cat.

[followingdawn]

[ He will gladly forget about this Europe, because from the look of complete non-comprehension on his face, Robbie's explanation is not helping.

Instead, sure, he can just scowl about that last. ]

I'm not going to do anything that sloppy.

[ He is a professional, thank you very much. ]

[ Okay, you know what, he tried to dance around it. Really, he did. But when Sothe's whole reaction boils down to "nah, it's cool cause, like, I ain't gonna get caught."

That is not cool. ]

Is that supposed to make it better? What's that even mean, I'm not that sloppy. 'Oh, I'm a very tidy thief. If the toilet paper is on the roll the wrong way when I'm cat-burgling, I'll fix it for them because I figure it's the least I can do while I rob them blind.'

[ On the one hand, he's kind of irate that Robbie is making this sound like a lark, rather than the way he's survived for as long as he can remember.

On the other hand? ]

What the hell is toilet paper?

[ His jaw nearly hits the floor.

He had no idea the gravity of the situation.

What fresh hell is this... ]

What do you mean what's toilet paper?!

[ He may be pretty darn savvy by medieval standards, but in the modern world, he's practically feral. ]

How do I put this delicately...

[ He snaps his fingers. ]

It's what you use to polish your posterior when you're done putrefying the porcelain.

[ Flat stare. ]

[Anita grins- more a smirk, really- in return.]

Someone save me from this conversation. Listen, Sothe, there's obviously some nightmarish concept misunderstanding going on here, and I am not willing to face the level of medieval that you clearly represent, so let's just agree to never talk about bodily functions.

[balladin]

[ That is a challenge that he will take, young lady. Robbie very solemnly curls the outstretched hand into a fist and offers it with a very definitive little bounce to the gesture. Ta-da, time to bro fist. ]

I can agree with that.

[ Who wants to talk about body functions, anyway? He is a totally mature thirteen year old who has decided that poop jokes are not actually funny or mature at all and therefore he is above them. ]

But I mean...if everywhere around here is like this, you're probably gonna have to face it sooner or later.

[ Most of what he's seeing in the temple seems a reasonably comfortable level of technology (or lack thereof) to him, after all. ]

[ Please, he and Rage probably had a 17 part combo bump/high five that took 30 seconds to pull off. ]
