I grew up on a planet before I went out to space. I can handle the woods. That's fine. But everything I've heard about tells me I'd rather have working gear. [They could all do with something that would actually work. They're at a disadvantage almost purely because they have nothing to make up for their shortcomings.

I can adapt. Some stuff would just make it easier.
