[They both look like better versions of themselves than they did a few days ago, as if they were dirty dishes that someone finally ran through a washer, wicking away all the grime and leaving them sparkling. Dixon's transformation is almost jarring; the instant he feels unwell he usually lets all his effort to stay presentable fall away, and that was his state before getting to Rivendell. Now it actually looks like he tried to arrange his hair into something presentable and shaved.
He's still got a bit of the hero-worship impulse with Kal, but the events at Weathertop leveled things down some. Sometimes idolization doesn't hold up well to exposure; Kal's just another member of the group, as fallible as the rest of them, not about to swoop in and save the day for everyone. And that's fine. At least that'll leave Dixon a little less tongue-tied.
There's a bit of a beat where Dixon isn't quite sure whether to lay claim to the drawings - it isn't that he's proud of them, it's just a thing to do to pass the time - but there's no point in lying.]
Yeah. The Elves gave us a bunch of paper, if you want to join in. [Dixon figures Kal's probably got super-drawing skills and could churn out a Michelangelo in five seconds flat, but hey, Dixon's ego isn't going to take a beating if someone's better at sketching trees than he is.]
